Instead of the die striking procedure, photo etched pins are made using an acid-reaction process, which transfers a photo negative onto a metal plate.
Instead of the die striking procedure, photo etched
pins are made using an acid-reaction process,
which transfers a photo negative onto a metal plate. The recessed areas created
by the acid are hand filled with enamel colors and then kiln fired. The raised sections on the lapel pins are then plated and polished.
An optional clear protective epoxy coating can
be applied to the surface to protect the pins to protect the enamel and
surface. These pins offer a larger spectrum of colors but at a more economical
price. Great for promotional pins!
Our Etched pins offer a way to have an enameled
pin at an economical price. Using a thinner piece of brass, each design is
acid-etched, enabling us to reproduce fine details. The colors are then filled in
and fired for durability. The pin is polished and then an epoxy dome is applied
to protect the finish.
